Plans for Halloween?

If you are looking for something fun and out of the usual party scene for Halloween this year, the Fine Line may be your place. They are having their annual Masquerade Ball with the New Orleans band, the Radiators. The cover is pretty cheap if you buy Fine Line tickets ahead of time (I hear they are more the day of the show).

I have not been to the Fine Line Masquerade Ball. The last 2 years I have went to First Avenue's Halloween Party. I can tell you from experience that is a great time! They have Thriller dancers (which I am sure will be even more popular this year as will the Michael Jackson costumes) and there is a costume contest. Last year the group of guys who dressed up as the Ghost Busters. Not only did they have the backpacks and jumpsuits down to perfection, but they also arrived in an almost exact replica of the station wagon that the Ghostbusters drove around in.

Both Fine Line tickets and First Avenue tickets are on sale for their Halloween celebrations. First Avenue's is 18+ and the Fine Line's is 21+

A Fine Frenzy frenzies up the Fine Line next month!

The former VH1 'You Outta Know Artist' A Fine Frenzy (Alison Sudol) will be in town next month for an almost sold out show at the Fine Line Music Cafe. Fine Line tickets are on sale now for the show, but A Fine Frenzy has sold out every show played here in Minneapolis, so buy Fine Line tickets asap if you want to go!

A Fine Frenzy is currently on tour in support of her new album, "Bomb in a Birdcage." Born in Seattle, Washington, Sudol graduated high school and started college at the age of 16. It was shortly after her completion of college she went to Austin's South by Southwest Festival where she opened for the Stooges. Gaining an audience at one of the most prestigious music festivals in the world her debut album, "One Cell in the Sea" sold reasonably well.

If you are wondering where her name "A Fine Frenzy" is from you may recognize it from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Thursday, November 5th at the Fine Line Music Cafe - with special guests Landon Pig and Among the Oak and Ash // 18+ Show

I won't be making it to this one - Snoop Dogg AND Har Mar are in town on the same night!

Sold Out Show: Ingrid Michaelson

If are looking for Ingrid Michaelson tickets at the Fine Line Music Cafe next week you may be standing outside in the cold! The show is totally sold out - there are no Fine Line tickets to be found for this show.

Ingrid Michaelson is known for her song "The Way I Am" which has been featured in 'Scrubs' 'Grey's Anatomy' 'One Tree Hill' and an Old Navy ad campaign. This could explain her popularity - she sold out the 1000+ spaces in the Fine Line relatively fast.

Ingrid Michaelson is on tour in support of her new album "Everybody" which was released this past August. It has done reasonably well, making it to number 18 on the charts! For a little girl from New York writing songs and touring she is doing very well for herself!

I won't be making it to this show, there are no tickets, but good luck to you!

Ingrid Michaelson, Wednesday, October 21st at the Fine Line Music Cafe - Matthew Perryman Jones opens the show 18+

Moby has been moved to the Fine Line

In the wake of the Myth's indefinite closing it looks like the Moby concert has been moved to the Fine Line Music Cafe. This is quite a difference in expected attendance, the Myth probably holds around 3000 people whereas the Fine Line holds only about 1000. Somehow though, Fine Line tickets are available for the show which is Thursday, October 1st. Myth Nightclub tickets will be honored for this event.

Moby is on tour in support of his new album, "Wait for Me" which was released last week.

It is too bad that the Myth is closed, it creates so many headaches and confusion for promoters and fans that just want to go to a show. And not to mention that the Fine Line is going to be so packed for this show! The show will be a little too packed for my taste, so if you're going have fun and be sure to buy your Fine Line tickets as soon as possible.

Pete Yorn is just around the corner

Time flies when you're having fun in the summer, right?
It was just awhile ago that Pete Yorn announced not one, but 2 shows at the Fine Line and that is already next week. Fine Line Music Cafe tickets are on sale now for the both shows next week. I don't think either one is sold out, but they will so buy your Fine Line tickets soon!

Be sure to check out Pete Yorn and Scartlett Johanson's "Break Up" album of duets this fall, I am sure you will get an earful about the special side project at the shows next week!

Get Your Two Way Monologues Ready!!

Norway's one, the only, Sondre Lerche just announced a show at the Fine Line for a show on September 20th - which is only one week before the VIKINGS HOME OPENER!!! That of course will be a big deal because Brett Favre will a Viking. Ok, I know nothing has been announced yet, but come on, they bought a condo in Edina! What more proof do you need!?

Anyways, back to Sondre Lerche. He will be touring in support of his new album 'Hearbeat Radio' on September 8th. Fine Line tickets for Sondre Lerche's show go on sale tomorrow.

If you think his name sounds familiar you may recognize his name and face from the movie 'Dan in Real Life' where he not only did the entire soundtrack, but also is in the movie with has band during the wedding scene at the end of the movie. I was pleastanly suprised not only how good the movie was, but it was nice seeing one of my favorite musicians in a movie. The year that I lived in Milwaukee and kept to myself I listened to a lot of Sondre Lerche!

See you at the show!
