Gear Daddies tickets on sale Monday!

The Gear Daddies have just announced their first annual holiday show of the year at the Fine Line. Fine Line tickets for this event usually sell out so fast the Gear Daddies add another show. So if you want to go be sure to buy your Fine Line tickets now before they are gone.

Martin Zellar
and the gang always have their holiday show at the Fine Line. They have not released an album in quite some time, however, their holiday season shows are always something that local music fans look forward to. The Gear Daddies have not played a local show since their Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater show last summer, which was also a hot ticket.

Fine Line Tickets Available Now!

I was trolling through the upcoming events at the Fine Line and I noticed that there are not too many. Fine Line tickets are on sale now for the following shows:

Vertical Horizon - Monday, November 9th

The Script - Thursday, November 12th

Spencer Day - Tuesday, November 17th

Brian Culbertson - Wednesday, December 9th

The Fine Line's Concert Calendar looks a little lacking during the month of December, too. I wonder what is going on? I know that the Fine Line rents out their space to people who want to have corporate parties or maybe their wedding reception. Maybe with the (omg, sorry, but I am going to say it!) HOLIDAYS the month of December is already spoken for. Usually December is a pretty busy concert month, everyone wants to get their tour finished so they can go home and rest over the first of the year.

The Script with Romantica

Thursday, November 12th local band Romantica is opening for the Ireland duo, The Script. It is fitting that they are on tour together and certainly no mistake, Romantica has a deep Irish heritage which influences the majority of their songs.

I have actually seen Romantica. 2 times ago when Ryan Adams was in town they opened for him. Although I am a little confused, all of the information I have read about Romantica lists them as a band, however, when I saw them it was just one guy and one guitar. I figured something must have been special about him seeing as Ryan had no supporting act announced for his tour and Romantica was a last minute addition.

Fine Line tickets for this show are on sale now. I would expect a big turnout for this show. Romantica is local and The Script had a bigger single a while back. Both acts not my taste, but I am sure tickets will sell fast!

Are you a Travis fan?

If you have ever listened to Cities 97 you have no doubt heard that horrifyingly annoying song called "Jupiter" by late 90's / early 2000's adult contemporary band, Travis. Well, it seems that the band as a whole has taken a break and two of the members are touring together: Fran Healy and Andy Dunlop.
They are calling the tour "A Chronological Acoustical Journey Through the Travis Back Catalogue: Laugh Out Loud Stories, Scottish Accents, Handsome Scottish Men, Naked Torsos." Since they are the only guys on the road, the songs will all be acoustic. They are also using this tour as a means to test new Travis material to smaller audiences.
I read a review of the Austin show and it said that there was a slide show part of the concert where Fran and Andy took turns telling stories. I suppose if you were a big Travis fan this would be a dream come true!

Fine Line tickets are on sale now for this event. I am not sure how crazy of a ticket this is going to be - I do know that Travis has a huge following - they have had quite a few hit singles. If you want to go buy your Fine Line tickets now.

Plans for Halloween?

If you are looking for something fun and out of the usual party scene for Halloween this year, the Fine Line may be your place. They are having their annual Masquerade Ball with the New Orleans band, the Radiators. The cover is pretty cheap if you buy Fine Line tickets ahead of time (I hear they are more the day of the show).

I have not been to the Fine Line Masquerade Ball. The last 2 years I have went to First Avenue's Halloween Party. I can tell you from experience that is a great time! They have Thriller dancers (which I am sure will be even more popular this year as will the Michael Jackson costumes) and there is a costume contest. Last year the group of guys who dressed up as the Ghost Busters. Not only did they have the backpacks and jumpsuits down to perfection, but they also arrived in an almost exact replica of the station wagon that the Ghostbusters drove around in.

Both Fine Line tickets and First Avenue tickets are on sale for their Halloween celebrations. First Avenue's is 18+ and the Fine Line's is 21+

A Fine Frenzy frenzies up the Fine Line next month!

The former VH1 'You Outta Know Artist' A Fine Frenzy (Alison Sudol) will be in town next month for an almost sold out show at the Fine Line Music Cafe. Fine Line tickets are on sale now for the show, but A Fine Frenzy has sold out every show played here in Minneapolis, so buy Fine Line tickets asap if you want to go!

A Fine Frenzy is currently on tour in support of her new album, "Bomb in a Birdcage." Born in Seattle, Washington, Sudol graduated high school and started college at the age of 16. It was shortly after her completion of college she went to Austin's South by Southwest Festival where she opened for the Stooges. Gaining an audience at one of the most prestigious music festivals in the world her debut album, "One Cell in the Sea" sold reasonably well.

If you are wondering where her name "A Fine Frenzy" is from you may recognize it from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Thursday, November 5th at the Fine Line Music Cafe - with special guests Landon Pig and Among the Oak and Ash // 18+ Show

I won't be making it to this one - Snoop Dogg AND Har Mar are in town on the same night!

Sold Out Show: Ingrid Michaelson

If are looking for Ingrid Michaelson tickets at the Fine Line Music Cafe next week you may be standing outside in the cold! The show is totally sold out - there are no Fine Line tickets to be found for this show.

Ingrid Michaelson is known for her song "The Way I Am" which has been featured in 'Scrubs' 'Grey's Anatomy' 'One Tree Hill' and an Old Navy ad campaign. This could explain her popularity - she sold out the 1000+ spaces in the Fine Line relatively fast.

Ingrid Michaelson is on tour in support of her new album "Everybody" which was released this past August. It has done reasonably well, making it to number 18 on the charts! For a little girl from New York writing songs and touring she is doing very well for herself!

I won't be making it to this show, there are no tickets, but good luck to you!

Ingrid Michaelson, Wednesday, October 21st at the Fine Line Music Cafe - Matthew Perryman Jones opens the show 18+
