Gear Daddies tickets

Are you going to see Martin Zellar and Co. tonight at the Fine Line? Fine Line tickets are on sale now for Gear Daddies show tonight. Last I heard the show was NOT sold out. However, a lot of people have tomorrow off so there will be many looking for something to do tonight. An old favorite like the Gear Daddies is a good place to start.

And don't forget Fine Line tickets for tomorrow's Tina and the B-Sides New Years Eve show. Tina and the B-Sides posted on their Facebook site in regards to the weather. The post said something along the lines of "the show must go on" considering we are supposed to get blasted with a major storm. SO no cancellations on the New Years Eve show.

I haven't decided what to do tomorrow night for New Years Eve. My plans for Chi-town to see the Black Keys are crushed because of the impending bad weather so I will be sticking to Minnesota. I don't even really want to leave Uptown!

Plain White T's tickets

Show announcement for the Fine Line! The Plain White T's have just announced a show at the Fine Line on Friday, January 28th.
The Illinois quintet will be touring in support of their new album, "Wonders of the Younger" which was just released in the time for the holidays! The Plain White T's had a surprise hit last year with that super annoying, "Hey There Delilah" song. "Wonders of the Younger" is their first release since their brush with success. Hopefully the Plain White T's will have some jams on this record that DON'T make you want to claw your ears out like the Delilah song did!

That was a bit harsh, but you know what I'm talking about. Fine Line tickets are on sale now for the Plain White T's show ... it's less than a month away! One plus to the show is that Parachute and Miggs are opening. You may recognize Parachute from their catchy tune on an iPod Nano commercial.

This picture is about as exciting as "Dalilah," no?

Liz Phair tickets

Once a grunge crooner now an aspiring rap star, Liz Phair has announced a headlining show at the Fine Line on January 20th.

Liz Phair is touring in support of her October release of "Funstyle." Liz Phair recently reviewed Keith Richards' memior "Life" for the New York Times. Liz said this book made her want to be a musician again and got her out of the funk she had found herself in. Liz Phair found herself not so afraid to get back to the stage and perform again.

Also notable trivia for her recent album, Dave Matthews lent his hand at songwriting for Liz's "Funystyle." This can explain why it has such a poppy sound.

Fine Line tickets go on sale this Friday for the January Liz Phair show. This is an 18+ show and opening support has not been announced yet.

Jamey Johnson tickets

Jamey Johnson has had to postpone his benefit show performance for tonight's show. Fine Line tickets were supposed to benefit Jared Allen's Homes 4 Wounded Warriors charity. It looks like Jamey Johnson's tour bus broke down outside of Milwaukee and he cannot make it to Minneapolis. It's a good weekend to call off a show with the amount of snow we are supposed to get!

Fine Line tickets are good for the new show which will take place on February 27th at the Fine Line. Opening acts Keith Anderson and Chris Jessen will play a free show tonight. Fine Line tickets will be available at the door.

I personally wouldn't mind going just for a Jared Allen sighting.

Fine Line tickets
for the New Medicine show go on sale Monday, November 29th. The Minneapolis based band is playing in support of their new album, "Race You to the Bottom" which was released in September.

Wednesday, December 8th - Punch Brothers

Saturday, December 11th - Bryan Greenberg

Thursday, December 30th - Gear Daddies

Robyn tickets

There is a lot of buzz about the return of pop diva, Robyn. To be totally honest I thought she had kind of fallen off the face of the earth. However, I forgot she was Swedish. Apparently all of these years since her hit jam, "Show Me Love" she has maintained success and fame in her native land.

Now, in 2010, she is making a return to the states and is touring smaller clubs. Tonight is her Minneapolis stop at the Fine Line. If you've picked up a Vita.MN or City Pages this week you will know that it is the "it" show this weekend. There has been a write up in all of the local papers including the Star Tribune which highlighted a recent interview.

Fine Line tickets are completely sold out for this show. Fine Line tickets were briefly available at the Depot tavern on Thursday. First Avenue, who is promoting the show, released about ten tickets to to a few lucky fans who made it to the Depot in record speed!

If anyone goes to the show I would LOVE to hear a review!

If only we could all have that blond hair, no?

Gear Daddies tickets

Martin Zellar and Co. are back in town for their annual holiday show. I think last year the Gear Daddies were the Fine Line's New Years Eve show, but this year it looks like the Gear Daddies are playing a day earlier this year.

This year the Fine Line Tina & the B-Sides are the headlining act for the Fine Line's New Years Eve show. Fine Line tickets are on sale now for both the Gear Daddies and Tina & the B-Sides shows at the end of December.

Here are a few other December shows taking place at the Fine Line. Fine Line tickets for these shows are on sale as well:

Friday, December 3rd Jamey Johnson

Wednesday, December 8th Punch Brothers

Fine Line tickets

Warning! This is going to be a rant/vent blog. A little negativity follows, you have been warned!

With that said, I would like to again vent my frustrations towards the Fine Line. Their drinks are the most expensive in downtown Minneapolis. And why, WHY??? would you put the bar against next to the only "hallway" in your venue AND make your bathrooms at the end of said "hallway." Guess what NO ONE can get anywhere. Why does everyone stand in that hallway by the bar anyways? Oh yeah, because no one can see from anywhere. Here's a thought, maybe you should discontinue putting tables on the main floor. Tables and barstools do not belong on the dance floor in a general admission club. The waitstaff looked horribly stressed out. The venue would work so much better if the bar was on the other side, but then it would be too close to the stage. Long, narrow venues just don't jive. But then again, they can't all be our beloved First Avenue.

I know absolutely nothing about owning a night club, so I'm sure they do what they can with the space they have. But as a very frequent concert goer I can say that the Fine Line is very un-user friendly. I love the way the Fine Line presents itself and the staff are very nice. I just don't like the club. I try not to go there, but Thursday the Dandy Warhols played (one of my all time favorite bands)and I just had to go! Fine Line tickets were almost sold out for this show so I knew it would be packed. But Motion City Soundtrack booked First Ave Thursday night and the horrid Mumford and Sons (they are a whole other blog) booked First Ave on Friday night. The Dandys had no choice but to book the Fine Line. It just took a lot of fun out of seeing one of my favorite bands, I didn't even stay for the encore.

So much negativity. So let me say some positive things about the show. 1) The Dandy Warhols played a dream setlist for any fan, 2) The drummer, Brent, had a fantastic vest on, 3) the sound was great, go sound guy! and 4) the coat check is convenient.

Check out the Dandy Warhols' video for 'Good Morning'

Jamey Johnson tickets

Country crooner Jamey Johnson has just announced a show at the Fine Line this winter.
While not very commercially successful, Jamey Johnson has gained a fan base via his live shows and work with Trace Adkins, George Strait and Joe Nichols. In addition to touring with those acts, he has also co-wrote material with them as well.

Fine Line tickets are on sale now for the Friday, December 3rd show. Keith Anderson and Chris Jessen open the show.

Jamey Johnson is currently touring in support of his September release "The Guitar Song" released on Mercury Nashville records.

The Heavy tickets

Just off of their super super sold out show at the Fine Line Music Cafe, the Heavy announce a return to Minneapolis at none other than the Fine Line! I am a little puzzled as to why they are going back there - their show last week had been sold out for quite awhile and First Avenue can fit a few more people.

The Heavy return to Minneapolis on Friday, November 12th at the Fine Line Music Cafe. In case you are puzzled as to who the Heavy are you may recognize their song "How You Like Me Know" from several commercials, including the Kia commercial that aired during the Superbowl. It was also the theme song of this years Stanley Cup finals. So their jam has gotten around ... not bad for a small band from Noid, England.

Fine Line tickets
for the November Heavy show will definitely sell out. Their last show left a very high demand for Fine Line tickets. I recommend buying early!

Jason Reeves on October 7th

Jason ReevesOn Thursday, October 7th, Jason Reeves will be performing live at the Fine Line Music Cafe. The 26 year-old from Iowa City, Iowa is an up and coming singer and songwriter who dropped out of college and moved to California to pursue his music career. He taught himself how to play the guitar and his influences include Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and James Taylor. He helped write songs for Colbie Caillat's debut album titled Coco, which reached #5 on the US Billboard 200. Purchase your Jason Reeves tickets today to see him live at the Fine Line Music Cafe!

Dandy Warhols tickets

Finally! The time has come! A Fine Line live show announcement that is worth blogging about. One of my all time favorite bands, The Dandy Warhols, are going to be stopping here on their fall tour. After finally ending their stint with Capital Records (they started their own label, Beat the World Records) the Dandy Warhols have released a "Best Of" compilation of all their radio jams. I will be the first to say that it is missing some of the stellar songs from their catalog, but I am a super fan.

Fine Line tickets for the Dandy Warhols show on Thursday, October 28th are on sale now. I am not looking forward to having to dodge the poles and the crowd at the Fine Line, but I love these guys and I must go!

I was hoping that they would have Darker My Love open for them like last time, however, it looks like Big Giant is touring with them. The Dandys usually pick awesome opening acts so I will for sure get to this show early to catch their show.

Oh My Dandy, we go way back.

Charlie Mars on August 26th

On August 26th, singer and songwriter Charlie Mars will perform at the Fine Line Music Cafe. He is promoting his new ablum, "Like a Bird, Like a Plane." He recorded his album in Austin, Texas with drummer J.J. Johnson who works with John Mayer, keyboardist John Ginty who works with Citizen Cope, and bass players George Reiff and Dave Monzie. Charlie Mars has a smooth style, with moods and melodies that are brilliantly crafted. Purchase your Charlie Mars tickets today!

Fine Line tickets

This coming week is going to be a really busy week for any business in Minneapolis's warehouse district. There are Minnesota Twins games Monday through Sunday. The Twins have been out of town for awhile so it will be good to have them home! And businesses in the downtown area will be even happier to have them back, seeing as Target Field attracts 30,000+ fans to the area. The Fine Line is no exception to this rule, hopefully they are enjoying the plus of having the Twins stadium steps away from them. The Fine Line has quite a few shows this week:

6/28 - The Painted People/ Jim O'Neill & The Brain Clouds/ Brian Just Band/ Andrew Fred
6/29 - Camela Kraemer/ Alex Masters
6/30 - The Summer High School Hot Spot "Obsessed Wednesdays"
7/1 - The Heavy // 18+ Show - SOLD OUT SHOW
7/2 - Post Twins game PARTY w/ Free Fallin & Revelation! (that is a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers cover band, FYI!!!)
7/3 - Rising Stars of Africa with Mercy Myra, Roy Kapale and Erica Lulakwa

Fine Line tickets are on sale now for all of the shows listed above. Most of them are local (minus The Heavy) so Fine Line tickets will be available at the door as well.

It looks like the Fine Line Music Cafe is having a bit of a drought on their concert calendar. Where are all of their shows going? Perhaps the Cedar? The Varsity? First Avenue? Fine Line tickets are also available for a lot of local shows and event nights that they are hosting, however, as far as national acts there is not too much on the calendar. Fine Line - you need some shows!

Fine Line tickets

I am not going to lie guys, I'm a little at loss as to what to write about here. There are not a lot of Fine Line events or shows going on that would allow for anyone to buy Fine Line tickets. It seems that the Cedar, First Ave and The Varsity are getting all the big name acts these days.

It looks like there are couple upcoming cd release shows for local bands that Fine Line tickets are available for, however, only at the door and not in advance:

5/14 - Standard Thompson & Not Like This Dual CD Release w/ Ready Goes/ Canon Chorus

5/15 - Fragile CD Release! w/ Far From Falling, Morning Society & more!

Memorial Day has a commemorative veteran's concert:
2nd Annual Veteran's Aid Concert feat. The Oh Eeks/ Matthew Griswold & more

Other than that it looks like a bleak summer for the Fine Line. How are these guys staying open? After the horrific fire they had a few years ago I don't want to see them close. The Fine Line needs an invigorating concert schedule to reignite itself in the Minneapolis club scene!

Fine Line tickets and parking

Have you tried to park around the Fine Line lately? With the new Target Field Twins stadium Fine Line parking is ridiculous! For some reason the city of Minneapolis had to have a bike lane. I know that is the 'green' thing to do and riding a bike is great, but there is no use for a dangerous bike lane on 1st Avenue. There is too much traffic - it is dangerous for bikers and cars. If they would have kept it a one way road then I would be all for the bike lane, but since switching 1st Avenue to a two way street there is just too much activity for cars and bicyclists to share the road.

The most confusing thing is having to park a good 5 feet away from the curb. If you park over the bike lane you will get towed, but here is the thing - when you park that far away from the curb you are parking in a lane of traffic! I don't want my car to be a sitting duck for someone to drive into it! There should be no metered parking out side of the Fine Line or any business on 1st Avenue - it just isn't safe.

If you have any Fine Line tickets to any of their upcoming shows be sure to arrive early for parking. And if there is Twins game plan EXTRA EXTRA time for parking. Traffic sucks! And be sure not to park in a bike lane!

Fine Line tickets

There have not been a lot of Fine Line tickets on sale lately. It just seems that there has not been a lot of national acts booked at the Fine Line lately. I think that a lot of shows normally booked at the Fine Line have been getting booked at the Cedar Cultural Center on the West Bank. I have said it before and I will say it again, the Fine Line is a frustrating place to see a show. It is a narrow building, it is nearly impossible to see the front of the stage (let alone be close to it) and when it is packed the pathway to the bar/bathroom area is impossible. It literally makes you want to run your head into a wall or just leave. I have left many a show there early because it is so uncomfortable.

Regardless, here are some upcoming shows at the Fine Line where you may need to buy Fine Line tickets ahead of time:

The Bangles: Thursday, April 29th

Butch Walker and the Black Widows: Friday, May 7th

Rocawear Fashion Show: Saturday, May 8th

The Buzzcocks: Monday, May 24th

The Heavy: Thursday, July 1st

Fine Line tickets for these shows and more are on sale now!

Lady Gaga tickets

Lady Gaga played at the Fine Line about a year and a half ago. Fine Line tickets for Lady Gaga were in such demand that they sold out freaky fast. Before that she was at KDWB's Jingle Ball, but I don't even think at that time "Poker Face" had been released. The Fine Line show was Lady Gaga's first headlining show in Minneapolis. For the Fine Line show, so many Fine Line tickets were sold that they even removed their tables for sightline seating to make room for more people. That is crazy! I don't know if the Fine Line has done that since!

Well times have changed. Lady Gaga is not playing one, but TWO SHOWS at the Xcel Energy Center this August. It will be a great way to bring in the end of the summer (AHHH! sad to write considering summer isn't even here yet) on August 30th and 31st. But wow, to go from a 600-800 person venue to selling 40,000 tickets is crazy. Absolutely crazy. Lady Gaga tickets Xcel Energy Center tickets are on sale now for the August 30th show (and is sold out) and the August 31st show goes on sale Saturday. I can't believe that - there are not a lot of artist that have been able to make this big of a leap in such a short amount of time!

Despite the hefty Xcel Energy Center ticket prices, I will still see you at the show - I can't miss this spectacle - it will blow the Black Eyed Peas out of the water.

The girl all your daughters want to see!

Watson Twins tickets

The Watson Twins, minus Jenny Lewis this time around are playing a Fine Line show on Tuesday, April 6th. You may remember Jenny Lewis' endeavor with the Watson Twins back in 2006. It sold well, it was received well by critics and their shows sold out.

Fine Line tickets are on sale now for this concert which is part of the 'Women in Music' concert series. Your Fine Line tickets will include a question and answer session and a panel discussion with women in the music industry. An opportunity to network with others after the discussion. Following all of this will be the Watson Twins set. The Watson twins are in fact identical sisters from Kentucky, Chandra and Leigh Watson.

The opening act has not been announced yet. The Watson Twins are touring in support of their new album and Vanguard Records release "Talking to You, Talking to Me." I am not sure why they would ever leave Conor Oberst's beloved Team Sleep label, but it appears Team Sleep is no longer handling the Watson Twins' affairs.

Don't miss this unique show at the Fine Line. Fine Line tickets for Women in Music featuring the Watson Twins are available for purchase now.

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Pat Green tickets

Pat Green at the Fine Line has been announced for a show on Thursday, April 22nd. Fine Line tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Born in San Antonio and raised in Waco, Texas, Pat Green started his love for playing music in the mid nineties. In 1997 he was fired from his job (by his stepfather, it wasn't as dramatic as it sounds) he dedicated all of his time to recording music. Before he had even signed a record contract he had sold 250,000 albums, was sponsored by Miller Lite and toured with Willie Nelson, among others.

Pat Green experienced commercial success in the early 2000's with the release of his major label debuts. He had a few top 40 hits. Pat Green is one of the hardest working guys in country music it looks like. Over the years pat Green has developed a devoted community of fans that follow his live shows. While he has not broken through to playing at places like the Xcel Energy Center or Target Center, the Fine Line is a perfect intimate setting to see him in. Fine Line tickets should sell fast for this show, based on what I have read about Pat Green he has quite the following!

Sunday, February 21, 2010

The Church tickets

80's new wavers, The Church, are back together and on a spring 2010 tour. One of their stops is at the ol' Fine Line Music Cafe. Fine Line tickets are on sale starting Tuesday for the Church show which takes place on Tuesday, April 13th. No opening act has been announced, however, this is a 21+ show. I think the city of Minneapolis has to rename April as RockApril this year. There are so many shows!

The Church, as you may remember, the Church had a top 40 hit in 1988 with "Under the Milky Way." Forming in Australia in 1980, The Church has just entered their 30th year as a band. The Church's current line up has been the same since 2000 and they are touring in support of their new album, Untitled #23. This is also the Church's 30th Anniversary acoustic tour which will begin in April and go through May for their North American tour dates.

Also, those who buy Fine Line tickets for this Church show will receive a limited edition cd available only to those who attend the 30th Anniversary tour. the track list is kept secret, but it sounds like a must have for those die hard Church fans.

Fine Line tickets
go on sale Tuesday, February 23rd. The opening act has not been announced yet.

Monday, February 8, 2010

Dan Navarro tickets

Well kids, don't get confused. When I first read that myself I thought it read DAVE Navarro and I got really excited. Even though I am not a fan of Dan's solo stuff, he is still so hot that my high school crush comes rushing back. Dave Navarro = hot.

Anywho, Dave Navarro is quietly living in California and being a free mason. But what is really going on at the Fine Line is DAN Navarro. Seeing as Dan Navarro is a folk singer he is from a completely different walk of life than Dan.

Regardless, Dan Davarro has 30 years of musicianship under his belt. He is one half of the folk duo, Lowen and Navarro, however that is only a small part of what Dan Navarro has accomplished. Dan Navarro has been a session singer (both in English and Spanish) for films like Happy Feet and Ice Age 2. His singing voice has also been in Family Guy, American Dad, Deal or No Deal, Rosewell, and Felicity just to name a few. Dan has also recorded with Susanna Hoffs, Julio Iglesias, members of Yes, and Neil Young. His work has also been featured on national advertising campaigns for Toytota, McDonalds, Folgers, Coors, Dodge and Coca Cola among others.

Fine Line tickets are on sale now to see Dan Navarro, a very diverse and eclectic musician. With all of this work during his carrer Dan Navarro has gained a large live show following. If you want to catch this essential artist be sure to buy your Fine Line tickets as soon as possible.

Rogue Wave tickets

The accidental band of sorts from Oakland, California, Rogue Wave, has announced a show on Thursday, April 15th.

Rogue Wave
have an entertaining story of sorts as to how they actually became a band. The founder, Zach Scwartz, lost his job in the dot com downfall in 2002. Schwartz decided to take a break from the sunny California life and take a sabbatical to New York. When he left awhile later, he had recorded several tracks with a friend. Most of those songs made up Rogue Wave's debut, "Out of the Shadow." Formerly on the famed SubPop record label, they are to Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records label. I would say Zach Shwartz is doing ok for himself. Something great has come from his job loss. I bet he looks forward to his job as a frontman of a band a bit more than he did as a dot com-er.

You may recognize Rogue Wave's name not only from the radio (the Current plays them frequently, so does Sirius) but they were also in the movie 'Love Happens' with Jennifer Aniston.

Fine Line tickets
are on sale now for the Rogue Wave show this April. You will need to be 18+ to get into this Fine Line show. No opening act has been announced.

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Howie Day tickets

As you many Minneapolis music fans may know, Howie Day was supposed to play at the Fine Line last Friday night, however, Howie called in sick and had to postpone the show. A new date for Howie Day has been announced for Wednesday, March 10th. Original Fine Line tickets will be honored for the new date. There are also Fine Line tickets available now for the new March 10th date.

Opening acts are still listed as Serena Ryder and Matt Lowell. Both opening acts played a free show last Friday. The show must go on in some form I guess! Serena Ryder is a pretty popular singer/songwriter in her homeland Canada. She has won a Juno award, which is the equivalent to a Grammy here in the states. Serena Ryder played at Minneapolis's Basilica Block Party last summer and was praised for her awesome performance.

It looks like Howie Day canceled his shows in Milwaukee, Ames, and Omaha last week as well due to this mysterious 'illness.' But hey, musicians have to have sick days too I guess. It was a bad week for bands showing up at the Fine Line, Everclear had to change their date as well.

Fine Line tickets
for Howie Day on March 10th are still available. Howie Day tickets for the last show did sell out so buy your Fine Line tickets before they sell out (again!)

Sia tickets

If you have ever watched the greatest television show of all time, "Six Feet Under," I do not need to tell you about Sia. You know very well who she is. Sia's song "Breathe Me" was played during the last few minutes of the series finale. I remember very clearly crying my eyes out as Claire drove in her Prius and listened to this song. I am getting teary eyed just thinking about it!

Anywho, Sia will be on tour in support of her new album, "We Are Born." An exact release date has not been announced, but will be released sometime in April. This is her follow up to 2008's "Some People Have Real Problems" album. The last time Sia was here Fine Line tickets were hard to come by, the show sold out well in advance. I am not sure if it was for her following or her opening act, the one, the only, Har Mar Superstar. As I am sure you have read on my blog before my dedicated fanship of Har Mar. He is a local guy and whenever he is back in town, fans flock to his shows, myself included. In fact, so many people wanted to go to the Sia show he was at that when it sold out he had an afterparty at Grumpy's downtown to accommodate the demand. Yeah, he is pretty awesome!

Fine Line tickets will be available in a Sia exclusive presale on Wednesday, however, Fine Line tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, February 5th at 11am. As much as I would like to see my song from Six Feet Under, I think I may have to sit this one out. There are so many Minneapolis concerts that my wallet is beginning to feel the pain!

Friday, January 29, 2010

Jack Ingram tickets

More country music at the Fine Line! Country crooner Jack Ingram has announced a show for none other than a Valentine's Day performance. Ingram has an extensive music catalog with 8 studio albums, six live albums and 17 singles. One of which was a top 40 number one hit. You may recognize his name from his single "Wherever you Are" which was the first number one song for the record label he is signed to, Big Machine.

Jack Ingram has an interesting title under his name, he actually hold a Guinness Book of World Records record. On August 26 of last year Jack Ingram the record for most radio interviews in one day, when he was interviewed 215 times. I cannot imagine how that is humanly possible, but that is what happened. If he interviewed for 24 hours straight (which I am sure was not what happened!) the interview would only be about 6.5 minutes each. Which is pretty long for radio interviews, but still ... 215?!!?!?!?!

Fine Line tickets are on sale now for the Jack Ingram Valentine's Day show. Everyone is looking for something fun and different for Valentine's Day, and if you are not going the Minnesota Wild game you could check out a concert. Minneapolis music fans do not have a lot of music options on Valentine's Day this year, but if you're a country music fan buy Fine Line tickets now! Valentine's Day events always sell out!

the show is 18+, opening act TBA

Bangles Tickets

Are you ready to walk like an Egyptian?! Because the Bangles have announced a show at the Fine Line this Spring.
Susanna Hoff is just off her tour with Matthew Sweet. While doing press for their tour last summer Hoff mentioned that the Bangles' new album was in the early stages of production. So be it, about a year later, Hoff is back with the Bangles and ready to tour.

Fine Line tickets
go on sale for the Bangles show on Saturday, January 30th for the show on Thursday, April 29th. Nothing like jumping the gun - but I am sure the 21+ show will sell out. There are a lot of people out there that want to hear the jam from the 1980's. I am sure a lot of the people going will be guys that had a crush on Susanna Hoff back in the day. Rest assured she has aged well! The Bangles have released only 3 other dates on their spring tour in St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Chicago. Don't forget to buy your Fine Line tickets for this show when they go on sale!!

Also, I would like to take a minute to remember JD Salinger, one of the greatest authors who has reached people for over 6 decades. Yesterday, he died in his home at the age of 91, peacefully of natural causes. Thank you for 'The Catcher in the Rye' - I can't imagine growing up without that book. Rest in peace.

Everclear Tickets

EVERCLEAR CONCERT GOERS LISTEN UP!!! Very important news to you if you purchased Fine Line tickets to see Everclear on January 28th - the show HAS BEEN MOVED TO Monday, January 25th - which is TOMORROW!!

Once again, Fine Line tickets are available for the Everclear and Clayton Senne show on MONDAY, JANUARY 25th - not the 28th as previously booked.

The date was changed due to a 'scheduling conflict' - this same 'conflict' also led to Everclear's Oklahoma City show being canceled. Sounds a little fishy, but other than that nothing else about the show has changed. Everclear is touring in support of their new album, "In a Different Light" which is a fitting title considering all of the hardships and line up changes that frontman Art Alexakis has endured over the years.

Everclear's live shows have been getting good reviews. It is sad, they were once my favorite band, and you can tell that a lot of people view them as a washed up joke, but I still think Art has the spark that Everclear needs. Art Alexakis knows that he cannot demand the success he once had and has to kind of work with the sad state of the music industry. The man has not been dealt an easy hand in life and I have always had a lot of respect for him. Art Alexakis good luck to you! And for being 47 (yeah for being a fellow Aries!) you look damn good!

Coolio tickets

Make sure you are sitting down for this one. The one the only Coolio is going to be in town this month. Not really sure why he's touring and I don't really care! It's Coolio!

If you don't remember Coolio let me refresh your memory. Picture it: 1995. Michelle Pfiefer. An inner city school. And Coolio's song: "Gangstas Paradise." As if that isn't enough there is the classic "Fantastic Voyage" jam from 1994. Fine Line tickets go on sale today for this last minute addition to the Fine Line Music Cafe's calendar.

Coolio is fresh off of a cancellation of a Mixed Marshall Arts fight in Alabama somewhere. I don't know about you, but that sounds like a whole lot of awful - something that should not happen! Coolio could get hurt!

Coolio has vanished off the face of the earth these past few years. I think he was busted for drugs awhile back, but other than that I can't think of a reason he was in the news. And I don't think he has released many albums since his days of top 40 hits.

Regardless, if you are looking for a night of nostalgia, Coolio will be here on Saturday, January 23rd at the Fine Line. Fine Line tickets are on sale !!!

Howie Day tickets

Pop singer Howie Day is going to be at the Fine Line Music Cafe in couple of weeks. Minneapolis music fans will have to make some tough decisions the weekend of the Howie Day show. On January 31st Jay Farrar and Ben Gibbard rock out at the Varsity Theater and the Howie Day show is Friday, January 29th.

Howie Day is as well known for his controversies as he is his music. Having 2 arrests in the past few years: one for a 'mishap' in a tour bus with a fan and the other for being unruly on an airplane (seriously? haven't we all learned from Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents that you do not back talk a stewardess?!) Regardless, Howie Day has made a bit of a name for himself. In 2004 his single "Collide" was featured on TV shows such as Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, and One Tree Hill. The result of that was a great radio hit!

Fine Line tickets are on sale now for the January 31st Howie Day show at the Fine Line Music Cafe. Serena Ryder opens the 18+ show. Buy your Fine Line tickets now before they are sold out!!!!

Terri Clark Tickets

A little bit of country music is coming to the Fine Line (if you need to know any happenings in the country music scene head on over to KJ's CountryGirl blog!) I am certainly not the authority on anything country.

Fine Line tickets are on sale now for the Terri Clark show. There are not too many Canadian country starts, however, Terri Clark is one of them. She was born in Quebec, but had always dreamed of living in Nashville. In 1987 when Terri was 19 she packed up her belongings and headed south. After several albums and record label changes she now has her own label, BareTrak Records so now Terri Clark is able to release her own music.

The show is Wednesday, February 24th at the Fine Line Music Cafe. There is no opening act for this show, it is her 'solo and alone' tour. Also, the show is 18+.
